Dickey’s Ryukyu Karate Jiu Jitsu Little Ninjas & Karate,
Various Dates

This early childhood program teaches the basic fundamentals of Taekwondo and Karate in a developmentally appropriate format to suit young children. The class will focus on building proper use of martial arts, self-respect, self-discipline and coordination of mind
and body. The instructor, Dickey Renshi, has been teaching martial arts for more than 25 years and is an early childhood elementary school teacher. He is also a three-time inductee into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Class length is 30 minutes, and sessions are ongoing throughout the year. Ages 4 & up. Register

Engineering for Kids: Aerospace Engineering Curriculum

All sessions will take place at the Ridge Pointe Pavilion. The min/max capacity for all sessions is 8/16.

Aerospace Engineering 101: Basics of the Air (Grades K-5), Various Dates 

Students will learn about basic aerodynamics with planes, parachutes and blimps! Students complete challenges and take home what they make.. Register.

Aerospace Engineering 201: Space Race (Grades K-5), Various Dates  

Students will learn about the aerodynamics of going into space by building rockets and landers. Students will complete challenges and take home what they make. Register

Hy-Vee Kids Cook: Pizza Palooza, January 10

What child doesn’t love pizza? Enjoy this hands-on cooking class taught by Waukee Hy-Vee Dietitian, Paige Hoyle, and learn how to make pizza part of a healthy diet! Each child will prepare 3 different healthier homemade pizzas.. Grades 5-8. Register

Kids in Harmony Muisc for the Young Child, Various Dates

Kids in Harmony classes will get you exploring musical play with your child! We strive to build confidence, develop academic and motor skills as well as further communication skills in this developmentally focused music class. Reap the benefits at home after sharing this bonding time with your child! Classes are taught by music therapists who provide quality live music and are fully inclusive of children of all abilities. Red Cross Babysitting Training, December 22

Attend the American Red Cross Babysitting Certification class and gain life experience by practicing babysitting skills on manikins and with other participants. Participants must be 11 years old and need to bring a sack lunch. Each participant will receive a Babysitter’s Training Handbook and a starter kit. Ages 11 & upRegister

Rounded Minds Spanish Language Immersion, Various Dates

Rounded Minds’™ mission is to make top-level extracurricular activities available, convenient and affordable, to parents who desire to raise well-rounded children and establish a strong foundation for their lifelong success. This unique programming focuses on building strong bodies and minds while providing benefits of natural bilingual learning at an early age. Every Rounded Minds class is designed and led by attentive experts committed to providing safe, energetic, creative and fun educational experiences. Soccer and Zumba are bilingual programs that offer children experiences
in sports without the threat of competition. Basic skills and fun games will reinforce listening, teamwork, and the joy of being active. Soccer ages 2-7. Zumba Ages           4-12. Register

Storywalk, Ongoing

Take an adventure with a story! The Waukee Public Library and the Parks & Recreation Department have join together to promote literature and exercise. Enjoy a different book each month displayed along the Heart of the Warrior Trail between 6th Street and the intersection of Ashworth Drive, Northview Drive and Warrior Lane. All ages welcome. 

Studio Bea Dance 2 to Move, Various Dates

This 30- minute class is designed for parents and their little dancer to bond while having fun. Dancers will gain confidence, improve social and gross motor skills, all while using their imagination to learn and explore dance and movement. Children ages 18 months through 3 years old are invited to register for this program. A parent or guardian must accompany each child as they will take an active role in their dancer’s skill development.

Teams of Tomorrow Creative Basketball Ball Handling & Dribbling,

Various Dates 

TOT is a creative ball handling and dribbling program for 3-5 year olds! We use music, academic enrichment and basketballs to improve physical and mental growth. We take the basket out of basketball and focus on individual accomplishments. Each class includes academic enrichment activities such as mixing colors, counting in English and Spanish, and vowels! Students will be able to perform at the half-time show of a live basketball game at the end of the 8-week session!! Register

Tot Lot, October 2-March 28

Romp, stomp and play! We have the set-up to meet your children’s activity and social needs this spring. With toddler toys ranging from blocks to tunnels and mats, there’s no shortage of action here. We provide the fun. Parents provide the supervision in this open gym for toddlers where kids play and parents socialize with one another. This is a non-structured activity. Tot Lot will be cancelled when Waukee Schools are delayed and/or if there is inclement weather. Tot Lot will be closed 12/25, 1/1, and 2/19 but will be open the week of Spring Break. Toddlers welcome.

Tumbling Tots, Various Dates

This 30-minute, developmental play program is a very basic beginning program for little ones designed to get them exploring large motor movements in a group environment. It emphasizes balance and coordination through basic tumbling moves, exercises and songs. Ages 2-3 years. Register

Tumbling Tots 2, Various Dates

This 30-minute program is designed for little gymnasts to learn and increase their basic tumbling motions. They will improve upon their tumbling skills and movements, coordination, strength and balance, by learning somersaults, front flips, back flips and more. Ages 4-5 years. Register
