Winter Reading Program Wraps Up With Great Success

The Waukee Public Library wrapped up its Winter Reading Program on January 31. 106 kids and 43 adults participated in the reading and rewards program, themed "Shake, Rattle and Read.” The participating kids logged more than 34,000 minutes, and the adults logged more than 47,000 minutes. Participants read for a combined 1,350 hours plus. That's a lot of cold winter days spent with a book!

This was the first year the library tracked reading by minutes rather than number of reading logs turned in. Prize winners were randomly drawn from participants at the end of the program. They are as follows:

  • Adult winner: Bev M. (Barnes & Noble gift card)
  • Teen winner: Asher B. (VISA gift card)
  • Child Winners: Elise V., Momoka M. and Maddox S. (Blank Park Zoo/Science Center of Iowa membership, Barnes & Noble gift card, Warrior Lanes gift card)

Congrats to this year's winners, and thanks to all who participated in Shake, Rattle and Read!
