Solid Waste and Recycling collection will be as follows:

Garbage must be properly placed in a trash container or garbage bag and placed at the curb the night before or no later than 7:00 AM on your designated pickup day.
Each household will be provided a 96-gallon container; smaller containers are available upon request. If you have any questions regarding your trash service, please contact the Waukee Utility Office at (515) 978-5502.
For a resident of a newly constructed home, your 96-gallon trash container will be delivered within two weeks from the time you begin your trash service. If you do not receive your 96-gallon container within two weeks, contact the Waukee Utility at (515) 978-5502.
Residents living in Apartments, Condos and Townhome Associations generally contract their trash service. Please contact you Manager for more information. |
| Curbside Recycling |
Curbside Recycling will also be on you assigned collection day. Here is a brief checklist of approved recyclables:
Newspaper |

Place loose newspaper in the bottom of your recycling bin. Any special inserts within you newspaper are acceptable for recycling. Do not put newspapers in a bag or use string to secure them before placing them in the bin. |

Corrugated Cardboard |

Flatten all corrugated cardboard. Cut into pieces and put underneath recycle bin. |

Plastic |
– |
Only place #1 and #2 plastic in your recycling bin (excluding oil containers). Check the bottom of each plastic container for recycling number. You must remove and discard all caps and rinse the containers before placing them in your bin. |

|
Tin or Aluminum Cans |
– |
Rinse tin or aluminum cans before placing them in your recycling bin. |
|
|
|
Clear Glass Food and Beverage Containers |
– |
Remove and discard lids from clear glass food and beverage containers, then rinse the containers. |

|
Brown Paper Sacks |
– |
Place any clean brown paper sacks in your recycling bin. |
|
|
|
Other Paper |
– |
The following items can be placed in your recycling bin (please place items in a brown paper sack): cereal boxes, tissue boxes, and shoe type boxes (you must remove any plastic liners from theses containers); magazines, catalogs, phone books, unsolicited mail; clean paper (any clean paper such as typing paper, computer printouts, etc., are approved for the recycling program). |
The following should not be included in your recycling bin:
Pizza boxes, used tissue, toilet paper, phone books, hazardous materials or containers that once held hazardous materials (such as latex paint, varnish, oils, etc.).
APPLIANCES: You must contact Waste Management at (515) 265-5267 to schedule the collection of an appliance. Waste Management will charge $35.00 for an appliance pickup and accept either a check or credit card for payment.
FURNITURE: Only one item per week. For arrangements, contact Waste Management at (515) 265-5267.
OTHER BULKY WASTE ITEMS: Items such as boards must be cut to 4 foot lengths with a maximum weight of 50 pounds. Carpets: cut, rolled and tied. |
