    Prohibition was a period of time when it was illegal to manufacture, sell, or transport liquor in the United States. This included Iowa. So, why did Iowa farmers get involved in using their corn to make liquor? Linda Mccann, researcher and author of numerous books on Iowa history, will share this information and examples of prohibition activities in the Waukee area. She will also share some of the stories and comments from the children of Iowa moonshiners and bootleggers that she has spoken with.

    WASP involves the senior citizens in the Waukee area and aims to "Take the Sting Out of Crime"! WASP was created based upon the concept of cooperation between law enforcement, senior services and seniors in the community to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly. It stands for Waukee Area Seniors and Police. The group meets the last Wednesday of each month for lunch at the Community Center.
