Building Department

The Building Department is responsible for the review, issuance, and inspections (if appplicable) of all permit applications.  Permit applications are available on this website here.  You may also pick-up an application in the Development Services Department Office located at 230 W. Hickman Road.

The Building Department is allowed 12 working days (excluding holidays) to review all permit applications.

Planning Department

The Planning Department is responsible for the review of site plans, rezoning requests/amendments, and platting documents. 

The City of Waukee requires review by the Planning and Zoning Commission and approval by the City Council regarding all development projects including residential, commercial, and industrial in addition to redevelopment projects and additions.

The development review process is typically a six to eight week process which begins with a formal submittal of an application to the City of Waukee. Through the process, plans are reviewed by staff typically two to three times prior to placement of a project on the Planning and Zoning Commission for review. Following review of an application by the Planning and Zoning Commission, the project moves on to City Council for approval.

The Code Compliance Department is responsible for the enforcement of all the City of Waukee Codes and Ordinances.
