The Waukee Fire Department is staffed 24 hours a day/7 days a week with a combination of full time and paid-on-call Firefighters. There are currently six full time Firefighter/Paramedic Specialists that work several different schedules to ensure advanced life support coverage for our community. The fire department also has 5 paid-on-call firefighter/Paramedics and another 23 paid-on-call Firefighters or Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians that work shifts at the fire station or respond from home.
The Waukee Fire Department operates two ambulances out of a single station. Both ambulances carry almost the exact same equipment and both are capable of advanced life support. In the event that both ambulances are out of service, the Waukee Fire Department has several vehicles equipped with basic life support equipment that would respond with an ambulance from a neighboring service.
