The Official Census Population Projection from 2007 estimated Waukee to be a community of 12,029 residents. Waukee is located within Dallas County, Iowa which in 2008 was recognized by CNN Money.com as one of the top counties for job growth.

Waukee is committed to expanding its commercial and professional business opportunities. For a number of years, Waukee has focused a substantial amount of time and investment towards the Alice's Road Corridor which when completed, will open up approximately 1,300 acres to immediate development for commercial and professional office opportunities.
