Duties and Responsibilities:

The Library Director is responsible for all aspects of library services, collection, staff and property. The director works closely with the Library Board of Trustees to monitor library affairs; sets goals; develops, carries out and amends policy as needed. Attends and presents thorough written reports to monthly Board meetings. Keeps abreast of current ideas, practices and movements in the Library profession; researching issues, questions and problems as they arise. Oversees collection development and management of Library materials, books and non-books sources of information. Oversees and develops public services, patron registration and circulation and all technical services. Develops library-sponsored programming. Administers development, spending and reporting of annual budget with approval of the Board of Trustees. Handles Library personnel responsibilities, coordinates public relations and publicity plan. Acts as building manager, works with architect to develop and plan a new facility. Completes necessary communication and reports. Seeks appropriate grant opportunities to enhance budget and improve services.

Certification:

• State of Iowa Librarian certification at Level IV.

• Member of American Library Association, Iowa Library Association, Iowa Small Library Association and Dallas County Library Association
• Serves as Director in the Waukee Public Library Foundation and as an adviser to the Friends of the Waukee Public Library
• Member of Waukee Women's Club
