As part of the Waukee Police Department's commitment to community policing in Waukee, the following programs have been implemented: the Neighborhood Watch Program, McGruff House Program, Waukee Crime Stoppers, TRIAD, and the School Resource Officer (SRO).
The Waukee Crime Stoppers meet every second Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Building. We are always looking for individuals that would like to be on the Board of Directors. Waukee Crime Stoppers is an organization that helps solve crimes in the community by offering a reward for any information that may help solve a crime. The organization also comes up with new ideas to help prevent crimes in our community.
The McGruff House is a safe place for children to go if they are in trouble. If anyone is interested in becoming a McGruff House sponsor, there is a background check, as well as an interview process.
We are looking to add to our Neighborhood Watch. If anyone is interested in getting Neighborhood Watch started or want to know if there is a Neighborhood Watch in their neighborhood, please contact the Waukee Police Department.
TRIAD involves the senior citizens in our community. They meet once a month at the Community Center. Interested seniors should contact the Waukee Police Department.
The School Resource Officer Program (SRO) is an officer working in the Waukee schools to build relationships with students and parents, and to help bridge the gap between police and students. Anyone wishing to speak with the School Resource Officer should contact the Waukee Police Department.
The Waukee Police Department believes that, to keep our community safe, it takes all of us - citizens and police - working together. If you would like to get involved in keeping your neighborhood safe and would like to start Neighborhood Watch, become a McGruff House, or help with Waukee Crime Stoppers, please contact the Waukee Police Department at 987-1073.
