New Charges: Due and payable on or before the 20th of each month. Any past due amount is subject to collection procedures specified in the City of Waukee ordinance, which may include certification as a tax lien, filed against state income tax refund or small claims court. A complete schedule of rates and ordinances are available from the City of Waukee.
Late Payment Fee: When a payment is not received at the Waukee Utility Billing office by 5:00 on the 20th of the month, a late payment shall be added. The late payment fee is equal to 1.5% of the unpaid balance. When the late payment fee is charged, it will appear on your billing statement as an adjustment.
If a payment is missed, the utility office will mail a reminder letter. If payment has not been received twelve days later the city will post a door tag on the account holder's door as a final reminder. At this point, a fee is assessed for posting the door tag. After the door tag is placed, the occupants have twenty four-hours to pay the past due balance on their account or make arrangements to do so with the Utilities Department Personnel.

Those who leave for a minimum of 3 consecutive months or more can request to have gas and/or water services disconnected during the time they are gone. The reconnection fee for snow birds is $22.50 for gas and $15.00 for water.
If the snow bird is a City of Waukee garbage customer, they can also request to have the garbage services suspended; but must pay the $2.00 monthly landfill fee.
As the property owner, landlords are responsible for the monthly storm water fees.
Because landlords are ultimately responsible for the unpaid balance of the renter's bill you will receive a notice if your renter is past due. If we have your current telephone number you will also be notified before disconnection of service due to nonpayment by the renter.
