Triumph Park will be constructed north of Hickman Road and east of North 10th Street adjacent to Waukee’s future Northwest High School. The 66-acre park will feature a sports complex with 12 softball/baseball fields, practice areas, concessions, parking, an 11-acre pond, greenspaces and trails. At the center of Triumph Park, a 15,000-square-foot EPIC Inclusive Playground will be built with mobility device access at various levels, rubberized surfacing, sensory features, STEM panels, shade structures, and accessible parking and restrooms included. It will be situated near the Greater Iowa Credit Union Miracle League® Field and an ADA-compliant fishing pier. The Waukee Betterment Foundation is raising $3 million in addition to the $1 million Apple donated to the foundation for this project. The City anticipates that the rest of the project will cost $17 million over a two-year build-out. Dallas County sales tax revenues will cover about 2/3 of the park’s cost. A Public Improvement Fund with Apple is expected to cover the remaining 1/3. It is the City’s intention that Triumph Park will not be paid for with debt or property taxes. Construction at Triumph Park is expected to begin in the fall of 2020 with an opening date of spring 2022 planned. It will be a regional destination for ALL who visit.
