Trick or Trout
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) typically comes to stock the pond at Triumph Park with more than 1,000 gorgeous trout in October. Keep an eye out for a specific date in early fall 2026.
Trick or Trout Event
Come out to enjoy activities, freebies and the fun of watching hundreds of trout transfer from truck to pond. Prizes will be available for those who catch trout that have been pre-tagged by Iowa DNR.
Preparing to Fish
If you're 16 years or older and plan to cast a line, be sure to bring your Iowa fishing license and trout stamp. Anglers under the age of 16 must buy their own stamp or share a trout catch limit with a licensed adult.
Get all the details on buying a fishing license, Iowa fishing regulations and more on the DNR website. In Waukee, residents and visitors can purchase fishing licenses in-person at Fleet Farm, located at 1300 SE Kettlestone Blvd. Review the fishing rules and regulations for Waukee ponds.
Per Iowa's fishing regulations, the daily limit for bluegills is 25 and the daily limit for trout is 5. The daily limit for bass is 3, but bass must be at least 15 inches long to keep. Releasing bass back into the waterbody helps maintain healthy fish populations.
Tagged Fish
If you catch a trout with a tag on it, email us a picture at parksandrecreation@waukee.org to claim a prize! Limit of one prize redeemed per person. Do not release the tagged trout back into the pond. Prizes will be given out until supplies run out or until November 30.
