Join us for a special day to see the Iowa DNR stock the pond with gorgeous trout. Come out to enjoy activities, food and the fun of watching 1,400 trout transfer from truck to pond. Follow us on Facebook or sign up for news from the City to get the invite.
Catch a Prize Fish
After the pond is stocked with beautiful trout, cast a line for one of the special tagged fish. When you catch one, snap a photo and email it to parksandrecreation@waukee.org to make arrangements to pick up a prize. Our sponsors, Scheels, Fleet Farm and Bass Pro Shops, generously donated great prizes, including fishing poles, tackle boxes and more. As of June 19, all prizes have been claimed. If you have questions, you can contact the Parks & Recreation Department's office at 515-978-0007.
Please keep the trout you catch and do not release them back to the pond. Take them home and make a tasty dinner. Remember a valid fishing license and trout stamp are required for those 16 years or older.
Preparing to fish
Get all the details on buying a fishing license, Iowa fishing regulations and more on the DNR website. In Waukee, residents and visitors can purchase fishing licenses in-person at Fleet Farm, located at 1300 SE Kettlestone Blvd. Review the fishing rules and regulations for Waukee ponds.
Per Iowa's fishing regulations, the daily limit for bluegills is 25. The daily limit for bass is 3, but bass must be at least 15 inches long to keep. Releasing bass back into the waterbody helps maintain healthy fish populations.
