Adult Coed Indoor Volleyball League 

Round up friends, coworkers or neighbors to play in our coed indoor volleyball on Sunday afternoons at Waukee Middle School. There will be a B-league (more competitive) and a C-league (less competitive). Regular league play runs for 10 weeks. View costs, dates and register here.

Life Time: Tennis Classes  

Trained tennis professionals from Life Time lead classes and provide experienced advice as players learn and perfect tennis fundamentals. Classes range from beginner lessons to more advanced tennis strategies, so players can receive instruction tailored to their skill level. View costs, dates and register here.

Yoga in the Park

Join local, certified yoga instructors from SPENGA-Waukee for Yoga in the Park. Participants 8 years old and up are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel, water bottle and $2 per person to Windfield Park on the second and fourth Saturdays of September. Classes take place from 8-9 a.m.

Cancelations must be made at least THREE WEEKS prior to the date of the trip to receive a full refund minus a $5 processing fee.

Fall Farm Day Trip 

We're headed to northeast Iowa on September 27 to explore everything FARMS! We'll tour Hansen's Dairy farm where we'll learn about dairy farming and processing, meet their cows and kangaroos and taste their homemade ice cream. We'll also tour the John Deere Tractor & Engine Museum and get an up-close look at John Deere equipment and witness the evolution from horse drawn to horsepower. We'll also enjoy lunch and shopping at Barn Happy, a local favorite! The $105 includes all tours, lunch, bus transportation and gratuities. Register here.

CPR Certification Class: Learn How to Help Save a Life

Learning CPR today can help save your child or loved one! According to American Heart Association (AHA), immediate CPR can double or triple the chances of survival after a cardiac arrest. Taught by professionals at the Waukee Fire Department, this in-person CPR Certification class teaches you how to perform CPR correctly, use an AED and help a person who is choking. Bingo

Bingo! Who doesn’t love yelling that out as the victor in this classic game of chance? Gather friends or meet some new ones at this monthly bingo event. Improve your odds and play two cards at once if you wish. Bingo will be held Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and March 1 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Waukee Community Center. The fee is $1 and $0.10 for each card played per round.

Dinner Delights

Dinner Delights freezer meal parties take care of the menu planning, shopping and prepping for dinner. At the end of the party, everyone takes home six meals. Participants bring freezer bags or a cooler to take the meals home. Dinner Delights provides the rest! Menus rotate and are available on the registration platform about a month before each party. Snacks & Facts

No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try our Snacks & Facts series! We’ll have a speaker every first Friday of the month at 11 a.m. at the Waukee Community Center, 675 Walnut St. Come ready to learn, and we’ll provide the snacks! Stick around for bingo at 1 p.m. with Waukee Parks and Recreation. 

September 1: Country Music Memories Signed in Ink 

Calling all country music fans! Darla Knutson, retired from a long career with local country station KIX101.1 in Marshalltown, has met over 150 country music artists, athletes, & celebrities—including Garth Brooks, Reba, George Strait, and Willie Nelson! In this talk, Darla will share her stories about shows, artists, and experiences throughout her years in the radio industry, as well as her collection of autographs and memorabilia. 

October 6: DNA Basics 

Get insight into the different test services available, the process, and the usefulness of DNA Testing as a tool to learn more about your health, traits, and ancestry in this informative talk by Theresa Liewer of the Iowa Genealogical Society. 

November 3: Zero Waste Beeswax Wrap Workshop 

Come learn from Carissa Thoma with Down to Earth Living about zero waste living and make your own reusable beeswax wrap—a handy and reusable replacement for cling wrap and Ziploc bags. Carissa will share zero waste tips to help your life “bee” a little greener! Supplies are limited and will be first come, first served. But everyone will learn how to make beeswax wraps so you can make them at home after taking this class, should supplies run out.
