Trailside Dog Park - Opening April 5 at 5:30 p.m.!

Overview

The brand new Trailside Dog Park will officially open Friday, April 5. A public ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Following the event, the park will be open to pass holders. Annual park passes are now available for purchase. Citizens are encouraged to apply for park passes soon to allow time for processing and shipping.

The four-acre site is located just east of Alice’s Road, directly south of the popular Heart of the Warrior Trail. The Trailside Dog Park includes public restrooms, 21 parking stalls, separated large/small dog areas, a drinking fountain, dog waste stations, a shade structure, concrete walking paths and open greenspaces. It also features a trail connection and bicycle racks.

Be the First Dog in the Park!

The "First in the Park" contest will be open to submissions March 25 at 8 a.m. through March 31 at 11:59 p.m.! Just upload a photo of your dog(s), and you will be entered! You may enter up to two dogs via separate entries. The winner will be selected and notified by April 2. The winner and his or her dog(s) will get to enter the park prior to the public on opening day - April 5, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. The park pass fee will also be waived or reimbursed for the winner. Park Passes

Dogs who enter the Trailside Dog Park must have a valid annual pass tag attached to their collars, made visible at all times. Please watch the video below prior to starting the pass registration process!


Waukee residents must license all dogs with the City of Waukee prior to applying for Trailside Dog Park passes. Annual pet licenses can be purchased 24 hours a day onlineQuestions can be directed to customer service at 1-855-585-8157 (M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

Non-residents will need to purchase an annual or one-day non-resident park pass in order to enter the Trailside Dog Park; City of Waukee pet licenses are not required.

Purchasing passes: Both annual and day passes can be purchased 24 hours a day online or on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Waukee Parks & Recreation Office. The office is located at 805 University Avenue in the Waukee Public Works Building. Please review these helpful steps for purchasing your Trailside Dog Pass(es).

Vaccinations: Verification of rabies and distemper/parvo vaccine due dates are required. Upload or bring a copy of your veterinarian receipt when purchasing a pass.
