The Waukee Youth Sports Complex & Park will be constructed north of Hickman Road and east of North 10th Street adjacent to the Waukee Community School District’s second high school, which is set to open in 2021. The City of Waukee plans to build an 80-acre outdoor sports complex which will include 12 softball/baseball fields, practice/warm-up spaces, a large pond, playground equipment, parking and other amenities. Revenue generated from sales tax and the Apple Public Improvement Fund will help pay for this project. Phase I is expected to be completed in 2022.
As the City develops this plan, land is also being set aside for the new Miracle League of Waukee Ball Field and Play Area, and an all-inclusive fishing pier. The Waukee Betterment Foundation is taking on the role of fundraising for this important and unique project. The foundation's goal is to open in 2022.
