No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try our Lunch & Learn series! We’ll have a speaker every first Friday of the month at the Waukee Community Center (675 Walnut St). Bring your brown bag lunch (if you want) and we’ll provide the dessert! Stick around afterward for Waukee Parks & Recreation’s Bingo at 1 PM. This program is brought to you in partnership with Waukee Parks & Recreation.
Prohibition was a period of time when it was illegal to manufacture, sell, or transport liquor in the United States. So why did Iowa farmers get involved in using their corn to make liquor? Linda McCann researcher and author of numerous books on Iowa history will delve into Iowa’s Prohibition history, sharing stories and comments from the children of Iowa moonshiners and bootleggers that she interviewed and providing examples of prohibition activities in the Waukee area.
