Waukee Library and Historical Society Announce 2019 Local History Series

The Waukee Public Library and the Waukee Area Historical Society (WAHS) are partnering again to host the popular Local History Series. Throughout the year, the two organizations will present historical information on specific topics related to Waukee and the surrounding areas. Support from Waukee’s Heartland Co-op makes it possible for this series to be offered to the public free of charge.

All sessions will be held at the Waukee Public Library at 1:30 p.m. on the Sundays listed below:

  • March 3: Minburn Singing Wheels Roller Skaters with Rod Stanley
  • April 14: Granger Homesteads with Darcy Maulsby
  • May 5: 1895 Adel Bank Robbery with Rod Stanley
  • September 8: Lake Robbins Ballrooms and the Vanishing Ballrooms of Iowa with Darcy Maulsby
  • October 6: 4th Annual WAHS Heritage Day – Our Historic Downtown
  • November 3: Our Local War Heroes with Rod Stanley

Presenter Rod Stanley is a historian and retired history teacher who shares his wisdom with Dallas County audiences. Presenter Darcy Maulsby is a local author, photographer and business owner. Details about the WAHS Heritage Day will be released later this year.

Advance registration is not required for Local History Series programs.
