On April 20, the Waukee City Council approved the plans, specification and estimate of cost, and awarded the contract for the Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancements Project. The project consists of landscaping and signage elements within the four medians along Alice’s Road between Hickman Road and University Avenue. The project also includes street banners, street trees and additional landscaping elements around the gas regulator station. The project follows years of widening Alice’s Road from two lanes to six, and it builds on the City Council’s vision for a beautiful community.
"These new additions to Waukee’s landscape will make this key commercial corridor more appealing and attractive to businesses and customers," said Waukee Development Service Director Brad Deets. "It will somewhat extend the Kettlestone theme to the north and will reinforce the City’s brand - really representing Waukee as a growing and dynamic community."
The contract for this project was awarded to Koester Construction Co., Inc., of Grimes, Iowa in the amount of $467,700. The cost of the project will be paid for with contingency funds leftover from Phases 4 and 5 of the Alice’s Road Widening Project.
Construction will begin in late May/early June and should wrap up before the end of 2020.
