In a news release issued by Iowa internet provider Mi-Fiber, LLC, the company announced it recently completed its fiber optic build of Waukee, making it the Des Moines Metro Area’s "first city to offer all residents and businesses citywide access to fiber optic internet with Gigabit speeds."

The release goes on to say:

“Now more than ever, high-speed quality internet is a must for homes and businesses,” said Ron Hinds, CEO of Mi-Fiber. “Since our inception, Mi-Fiber has been committed to delivering fiber optic internet to the City of Waukee. We are grateful for the support we’ve received from the citizens of Waukee. Without this support we would not have been able to make Waukee the Des Moines area’s first fully fiber city.”

Fiber optic internet provides immense opportunities. Schools benefit from offering advanced learning practices, cities facilitate land development and new business expansion, employers stay connected with home-based employees, patients communicate with doctors through telehealth, families stay connected and online students continue their studies.

“During these uncertain times, we understand the importance of reliable internet,” said Mark Harvey, Mi-Fiber General Manager. “Mi-Fiber is committed to providing quality service to all the locations we serve. We continue to expand and grow with a strong focus on ensuring our customers receive the attention and service they deserve.”

Mi-Fiber uses the latest generation technology, backed by a complete fiber optic network, to provide an unrivaled broadband experience to Waukee and other locations across the Des Moines metro. Mi-Fiber uses a dedicated fiber strand to each service location, providing symmetrical connections capable of speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second. Employing the latest fiber technology allows each customer to use the Internet the way it should be - connecting multiple devices, streaming video, gaming or working from home all at the same time while offering no lag time, no buffering and no interruptions.

Mi-Fiber recently completed the overbuild of Waukee. As the City of Waukee continues to thrive and enjoy growth, Mi-Fiber is committed to meeting the internet needs of Waukee’s residents and businesses.
