Capital Improvement Projects Update - Nov. 20, 2020

The City of Waukee is continually working on public capital improvement projects which address current needs, sustain existing infrastructure and ensure that the City’s services and amenities are ready for continued growth of the Waukee community. Get the latest information about the progress being made on Waukee’s capital improvement projects!

NW 10th Street/NW Sunrise Drive ImprovementsNW 10th Street Oct 2020 (5)

NW 10th Street is now open to traffic. Vehicles can utilize the west two lanes to travel north and southbound while the contractor finishes cleanup work on the east two lanes. The project will conclude in the spring with the addition of permanent pavement markings and sign installation, widening of NW 10th Street pavement just north of Hickman Road and roadway patching between Hickman Road and NW Sunrise Drive.

Crews are continuing to make progress on the Waukee Public Library stormwater improvements. Paving of the new parking lot is now complete. Construction of the 13 bioretention cells around the property is underway. Crews hope to finish out the project ahead of schedule yet this fall!

Curbside services and returns have shifted to the south side of the building. Returns can be dropped through the dropboxes 24/7. However, oversize items will only be accepted during curbside service hours.


Alice's Road Landscape EnhancementsIMG_2216
 

The Alice’s Road Landscape Enhancements project is now complete. Plantings and decorative signs have been installed in the medians. Decorative banners have also been installed on light poles along the road. 


Alice Nizzi ParkSpaghetti and meatball play equipment at Alice Nizzi Park

The installation of custom spaghetti-themed play equipment is now complete. The rubberized play surface is now installed. Crews are now working to complete the finishing touches. Grass seeding will be completed next week. Although it is tempting to get out and test the new equipment, please stay out of the park until it is officially opened. Glynn Village Park

Playground equipment has now been installed and crews have recently finished the rubber play surface. The final pieces of the project include installation of irrigation and final surface restoration. Although it is tempting to get out and test the new equipment, please stay out of the park until it is officially opened. Warrior Lane Joint Utility Trench

Construction of the Warrior Lane Joint Utility Trench is now underway. The conduit bank will be installed along the east side of Warrior Lane between SE Marshall Drive and SE University Avenue. Construction is expected to be completed before the end of the year and will allow for utility relocations in the area prior to the intersection improvements at the five-way intersection on Warrior Lane beginning in early 2021.
