Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

  1. Hickman Road Lane Closure

    March 21, 2019, 9:00 AM - April 5, 2019, 5:00 PM

    Access through the Hickman Road median near Deery Brothers will soon close permanently. Also, during construction, intermittent lane closures will occur on the eastbound side of Hickman Road from the west side of the Deery Brothers site to 10th Street. Please use caution in the area during this time.

  2. University Avenue Lane Closure west of 6th Street

    April 1, 2019 - April 5, 2019

    University Avenue will be down to one lane between 6th Street/Ute Avenue and the west entrance of the Waukee Public Works Building (805 University Avenue) to allow for road repairs. The intermittent lane closures will occur April 1-5.

  3. Hickman Road Lane Closure

    April 2, 2019 - April 19, 2019

    Hickman Road going eastbound from just east of Peachtree Drive to just east of Alice's Road will be down to one lane April 2-April 19. Crews will be working to remove pavement along Hickman Road as part of the Alice’s Road widening project. Drivers will still be able to turn right onto Alice’s Road.

    Lunch & Learn No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try our new Lunch & Learn series! We’ll have a speaker every first Friday of month at the Waukee Community Center. Bring a brown bag lunch and we’ll provide the dessert! Stick around afterwards for Parks & Rec’s bingo at 1pm. This program is brought to you in partnership with Waukee Parks & Recreation. ----------------------------- Chair Yoga for Everyone Come learn about the accessibility and many benefits of yoga for your physical and mental health from certified yoga instructor Jolene de Bruijn—followed by a Chair Yoga session. This class is seated and accessible to a variety of mobility levels! If you cannot standing for long periods of time or lack the mobility to move easily from standing to laying positions—this gentle class is a great option! Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes. No experience necessary.

    Gather with friends at the Waukee Community Center and test your luck the first Friday of each month from 1-2:30 p.m. after the library’s Lunch and Learn program. Bingo will take place March-November. No registration is required.

  7. Trailside Dog Park Grand Opening

    April 5, 2019, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

    The brand new Trailside Dog Park will officially open Friday, April 5. A public ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Following the event, the park will be open to pass holders. Annual park passes are now available for purchase. Citizens are encouraged to apply for park passes soon to allow time for processing and shipping.
