Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

  2. Elementary Coding: Finch Avoids Asteroids

    June 26, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    All coding classes will use the Scratch programming language to control Finch robots. No prior coding experience is necessary. Students entering 3rd-5th grades in the fall will work in pairs with library staff and teen volunteers. These robots and programs are made possible by a grant from Birdbrain Technologies, LLC. www.birdbraintechnologies.com Registration is required and will open 3 weeks prior to the event. In this lesson, students will use Finch robots as rocket ships and program them to “fly” to all of the planets in our solar system.

  4. Park Play: in a Local Way (Windfield Park)

    Park Play is a summer fun series organized by the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department and sponsored by Central Bank. The Windfield Park theme this year will be Carnival & Clowns. This is a great way to connect with neighbors while having fun in the park! Flyers will be delivered to specific park neighborhoods with information about Park Play themes. Games, crafts, activities and fun for all ages will be provided free of charge.

  5. Solarize Waukee Solar Power Hour

    The City of Waukee, the Nature Conservancy in Iowa, Waukee Aspiring Professional Experience (APEX) and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) are supporting Solarize Waukee - the bulk solar group purchase program for residents and businesses located anywhere within the Waukee Community School District boundaries; this covers Waukee and portions of West Des Moines, Clive and Urbandale. The program will provide residents and businesses with the opportunity to invest in their own high-quality renewable energy solar installations with potential savings on installation cost, while also helping businesses reach sustainability goals.
