Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

  1. Yoga in the Park

    July 27, 2019, 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM @ Windfield Open Air Shelter

    Join local, certified yoga instructors for Yoga in the Park this summer! Bring a yoga mat or towel to Windfield Park (114 Windfield Parkway) on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from June through August. Yoga sessions will take place from 8-9 a.m. This program is recommended for anyone 8 years and older. The cost is $2 per person. Please pay the instructor when you arrive.   3. Save the Planet Escape Room

    Choose your teammates wisely and bring all your brain-power to try to save the planet! NASA needs your help to crack the lock on a missing employee’s safe. The safe holds a coded message from aliens that could determine the fate of intergalactic relations. This Escape Room will be the same as the Save the Planet Escape Room for teens Monday, July 15. This event is open to adults and youth who will be in 6-12th grades in the fall.   4. Home Show Expo

    The 2019 Home Show Expo will be at The Reserve at Daybreak in Waukee! This development is located west of 6th Street on Daybreak Drive in southwestern Waukee. The 10-day event is scheduled for July 13-28, 2019. See the website for the full listing of dates and times.

    The Home Show Expo, hosted annually by the Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines, presents attendees with a unique opportunity to peer inside and appreciate the style, craftsmanship and amenities of new custom-built homes constructed by local builders in attractive Central Iowa neighborhoods. Explore current trends in homebuilding and construction over three long weekends each July, taking in views of a select communities while meeting with area builders and enjoying exclusive tours of newly constructed real estate fully furnished by local vendors in up-and-coming developments across the Des Moines metro.

  5. Space Camp: Next Time You See a Sunset

    July 27, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    Families with students preparing to enter Kindergarten-5th grade will enjoy this program to exercise their minds and bodies while learning about space. Each camp will begin with astronaut exercises, then we will watch and listen to an astronaut read a story from the International Space Station, and end with a STEAM experiment or activity to extend the learning from the story. Care-givers should remain in the program. Registration is required for each individual session. In this session, we will hear the story Next Time You See a Sunset and make solar s'mores.

  6. Craft Workshop: Galaxy Scarf Ice Dying

    July 27, 2019, 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    Come cool off and make a unique dyed scarf using ice! With this simple but fascinating technique, the melting ice will create beautiful textures and impressions for an unrepeatable, out-of-this-world result. Note: Participants will not go home with their creation the same day. Project Pickup Day will be Monday, July 29th beginning at noon. Registration is required and will open 3 weeks before the event date. Note: Each person attending needs to sign-up separately.
