Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

    SYRCL’s Wild & Scenic Film Festival inspires environmental activism and a love for nature through film. On Sunday, September 11, from 1-4 p.m., IEC is bringing the On Tour festival to The Palms Theatres & IMAZ in Waukee, featuring films and panels that will spark conversation about making Iowa a better place to live, work, and explore! We'll screen seven short films on topics including clean water, renewable energy, environmental justice and more. Join us for popcorn and candy, conversation, and inspiration! Proceeds from the event will support the work of the Iowa Environmental Council.

    Catch Fish and Have Fun! Learn About Cub Scouting In Waukee Sunday, September 11th, 2pm-4pm Come have fun fishing at Triumph Park- the fish are biting. The event is open to all families and children looking to have fun fishing with Waukee Community Cub Scouts. Bait will be provided, and rods will be available to check out. Representatives from Waukee Community Cub Scout Packs and Mid-Iowa Council BSA will be onsite to answer all your questions. Any level of fishing experience is welcome. Even it it's your first time, Scouters can help you get started. We ask that any children be accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian. Anyone ages 16 and older looking to fish will need a valid Iowa fishing license; adults can supervise without needing a license. Drive, bike, or walk to the parking lot nearest to the Triumph Park large playset playground North of the pond and look for our Scouts and Adult Leaders in their scout uniforms to greet you and direct you to the fishing pier.

  3. Renaming Ceremony - Waukee Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post to the Danny White – Waukee Post # 11517

    On Patriot’s Day, Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 2 PM, the Waukee Community is invited to their Veteran’s Hall to join members of the Waukee Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in their ceremony to commemorate the official renaming of their post in honor and memory of Charter VFW Member Danny White who passed away on November 19, 2020 due in part to his exposure to Agent Orange during his combat service in Viet Nam. In February 2000, former U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and paratrooper Danny White, helped reactivate the Waukee, IA Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and served as it’s Post Commander. He later served as the District and then the State VFW Commander. He was also a Charter Member of Waukee American Legion Post 734. After the military, Danny continued to serve his community in uniform for 30 years as a law enforcement officer with the Madison County Sheriff's Department and the Winterset and Waukee Police Departments. Please join us on the 11th.
