Board and commission terms begin February 1st each year unless there is a need for a special appointment to fill an unexpired term. The City of Waukee publishes notice of the application window in the fall each year on its social media pages, Waukee.org and local publications. Waukee residents may submit an application at any time during the year but may be asked to resubmit during the fall application season. The mayor reviews all applications and chooses appointees. At the second regular meeting in January, Waukee City Council approves the mayor's appointments.
NOTE: Terms for the Library Board of Trustees begin July 1st each year unless there is a need for a special appointment to fill an unexpired term. The Library Board of Trustees has a separate application process.
All members of boards and commissions must complete an open records/open meetings training within 90 days of being appointed. There is no cost to the board or commission member to attend the training.
