citizen academy

The Waukee Police Department is proud to continue its annual Citizen’s Academy. This program is offered to Waukee business partners and residents. The Citizen’s Academy will take place November 2, 2017 through January 25, 2018, as a 30-hour block of instruction designed to give the public a working knowledge of the practices, policies and procedures governing the Waukee Police Department. The academy consists of 10 weekly three-hour sessions and an optional ride-along with a patrol officer.

“We have had great citizen responses to this program,” said Sergeant Jeremy Long. “We look forward to a new group this year and being able to provide another inside look to the Waukee Police Department in an engaging and impactful way.”

The academy’s sessions have been designed to incorporate an interactive format with hands-on experiences whenever practical. Instructors are certified police officers, supervisors and other personnel with expertise in various areas.
