On July 2, 2018, the Waukee Police and Fire Departments held a ceremony at which they promoted current department members and welcomed new officers. The Waukee Fire Department promoted Adam Hilgenberg to Fire Lieutenant. Lt. Hilgenberg has been a paid-on-call Firefighter/Paramedic since 2004 and was hired on full-time in 2016. The Waukee Police Department also promoted two members of its command staff. Sgt. Jeremy Long was sworn in as the new Lieutenant of Criminal Investigations. Lt. Long has been with the Waukee PD since 2007. Previously a School Resource Officer, Brandon Pettit was sworn in to his new role as Sergeant in the department’s Community Protection Division. Sgt. Pettit has been with the Waukee PD since 2010. City Clerk Becky Schuett also administered the oath of office to new police officers Corby Robbins and Dace Richardson. Robbins comes to Waukee most recently from the State of Iowa where she worked as an investigator. Richardson, a veteran of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa Barnstormers football teams, will now attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for four months to obtain his certification as a sworn peace officer.
