Levi Abramowitz (pictured on left) became the Waukee Fire Department's newest full-time Firefighter/Paramedic on July 1, 2018. He joined the department originally in September 2017 as a paid-on-call Firefighter/Paramedic and also worked with the Clive Fire Department. Abramowitz holds certifications in firefighting, hazardous material operations and his EMT-P, as well as an associate's degree. His duties include fighting fires, providing medical care, maintaining department vehicles and more. The Waukee Fire Department now has 12 full-time employees and nearly 30 paid-on-call employees.
On July 17, 2018, Jeremiah Frueh (pictured on right) took his oath of office with the Waukee Police Department. Officer Frueh holds an associate's degree in Criminal Justice from DMACC. He will now attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for four months. Upon graduation, he will become a sworn peace officer. His duties will include patrolling the community and protecting and serving the people of Waukee. The Waukee Police Department now has 23 police officers and two full-time civilians on staff.
