waukee fire news

The Waukee Fire Department raised money during the month of October for the non-profit organization Can Do Cancer, which assists breast cancer patients while they undergo chemotherapy.

On Oct. 31, 2019, members of the Waukee Fire Department donated $471 to Can Do Cancer. Can Do Cancer is a non-profit organization that works to improve and enhance the lives of breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment in Des Moines and surrounding areas. This includes providing meals on chemo days, offering housecleaning and pairing people with previous survivors. The department raised the money by paying to wear pink breast cancer awareness shirts throughout October in lieu of uniform shirts.
