The Waukee Police Department will take part in its “Kids First” initiative during the first two days of the 2016-17 School Year. Officers will be stationed during the morning and afternoon times at Waukee Community School District elementary schools to open doors for students and family members. This is a great way for the police officers to meet with and begin to foster relationships with students and their family members. The goal of Kids First is to reinforce the Waukee PD’s presence in the schools.
“We want the kids and their families to know that we are there for them,” said Sgt. Jeremy Long. “Reaching out to our youth and keeping them safe are top priorities for the Waukee Police Department.”
