At the March 20th Waukee City Council Regular Meeting, Waukee Police Chief John Quinn was surprised with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve's (ESGR) Patriot Award. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.
Chief Quinn was nominated by Waukee Police Sergeant Hector Arias. Sgt. Arias is a member of the Iowa Air National Guard, and has served in many military and law enforcement roles throughout his career. He noted in the nomination letter that Chief Quinn was very supportive of he and his family during his annual training and mobilizations in which he was away from his work with the Waukee Police Department.
Stephen E. Bogle, State Chairperson of the Iowa ESGR Committee, was on hand to present the Patriot Award to Chief Quinn. Sgt. Arias, members of the Quinn family and additional Waukee Police personnel were also present to celebrate this honor. Congratulations to Chief Quinn!
