Following an application and interview process, the Waukee Police Department recently chose its next Sergeant - current Waukee Police Officer Robert Gitzen. Officer Gitzen joined the Waukee Police Department in July 2015, and has proven himself as a very valuable asset to the team and the community.

"We are blessed at the Waukee PD with extremely talented officers who participated in the Sergeant promotional process," said Police Chief John Quinn. Officer Gitzen has a contagious positive attitude, great leadership potential  and a true commitment to excellence. He will be an exemplary leader as he assumes his duties as Sergeant of the department's third shift."

Now Sergeant Robert Gitzen will officially be sworn in to the new rank in a ceremony scheduled for Monday, Apr. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Waukee Public Safety Building. The public is welcome to attend.

The Waukee Police Department currently employs 20 full-time, sworn officers. The FY 2018 City Budget will allow the department to hire two additional full-time officers this summer, bringing the force total to 22.
