Incumbent City Councilmembers Anna Bergman and Charlie Bottenberg as well as new City Councilmember Courtney Clarke each took the Oath of Office at the January 2, 2018 Regular City Council Meeting. Mayor Bill Peard administered the oaths, kicking off new four-year terms for the elected officials. Bergman and Bottenberg will serve their second terms following appointments made in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Clarke will serve her first term. Councilmember Bottenberg was also appointed as Mayor Pro Tem for 2018, meaning he will step into a leadership and spokesperson role when Mayor Peard is unavailable.
Fun fact: For the first time, the majority of Waukee's City Councilmembers are women.
The Waukee City Council Regular Meetings are held the first and third Mondays of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Waukee City Hall.
