Construction for Phase 5 of the Alice's Road widening project is expected to begin in late April/early May 2018. This phase consists of 0.8 miles of road from SE Olson Drive to NE Horizon Drive. Crews are constructing underground utilities (storm sewer, water main and sanitary sewer). As the project continues, the portion of Alice’s Road north of SE Olson Drive will be widened from two lanes to six lanes. The western three lanes will be constructed first while the existing two lanes remain open for traffic; once the western lanes are completed they will open to traffic while the new eastern lanes are constructed.
This phase of the project will also mean the intersection of Alice’s Road and Hickman Road will undergo significant changes. A temporary traffic signal will be installed and operational for the duration of intersection work. Hickman Road will be widened to accommodate dual left turn lanes and right turn lanes for eastbound/westbound traffic. Both Alice’s Road and Hickman Road will be open to traffic throughout Phase 5 of this project, however, temporary overnight closures of Alice’s Road may be scheduled to accommodate utility work. These will be announced in advance.
The bulk of the construction is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018. Additional intersection work may occur in the spring of 2019.

As with all construction, much is dependent on weather and other uncontrollable circumstances. The project timeline will change and be updated as needed.
