The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Primary elections are held for political parties to nominate candidates for the general election. Currently, there are three recognized political parties in Iowa: the Democratic Party, Libertarian Party and Republican Party. 

All eligible electors of Dallas County are eligible to vote in the Primary Election as long as they declare themselves to be a member of either these parties. A party affiliation can be declared or changed on Election Day, but only one party’s ballot may be voted by each eligible elector. 

An eligible elector must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be a resident of Iowa
  • Be at least 18 years old

An eligible elector must NOT:

  • Be a convicted felon (unless voting rights have been restored by the president or governor)
  • Be currently judged incompetent to vote by a court
  • Claim the right to vote in any other place

POLLING HOURS: All polling places will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018
