Due to the COVID-19 situation, Waukee’s traditional Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 11 is canceled. But, don’t worry – the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department is joining with many other departments throughout Iowa to organize a “Social Distancing Egg Hunt”!
The Social Distancing Egg Hunt aims to get community members outside for fresh air and fun – all while keeping a healthy distance from each other.
So, here’s how it works:
- Create a big Easter Egg. Find poster board or paper, and color, paint, draw or collage your egg. You could even create something digitally. Be creative!
- Hang the egg on a front-facing window or door so egg hunters can see it.
- Get out and “hunt” for all the other eggs in the community.
- Post pictures and tag the following social media accounts for a chance to win prizes.

Don’t forget City of Waukee buildings while you’re on your hunts! City Hall, Development Services, HR/IT, the Community Center, Public Works, Fox Creek Park, Ridge Pointe Pavilion and Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course are all participating.
