  • If you are moving into or purchasing a property within Waukee city limits, set up your account with the Utility Billing Department for water, sewer and garbage and recycling service, if applicable to your property. We recommend setting up your account at least 24 hours prior to your move-in date. 

    • Residential customer (house, condo or apartment) who is newly moving to Waukee: set up your account here.
    • Resident customer who is moving from one Waukee address to another Waukee address: transfer your account here.
    • New landlord: review your responsibilities and fill out the form here
    • Commercial (business): call the Utility Billing Department at 515-978-5502

    Electricity and natural gas service are provided by MidAmerican Energy and will not be part of your utility bill from the City of Waukee. Call MidAmerican Energy at 1-888-427-5632 to set up or transfer service.

  • Yard waste pick-up is contracted through ASI to be collected at the curb every Monday from the first Monday in April until the last Monday in November. If you have any issues, please call ASI at 515-964-5229

  • If your garbage, recycling or yard waste was on the curb on your designated day and by 7 a.m. and it was not picked up, please call ASI at 515-964-5229 to report the issue. If your garbage, recycling or yard waste was missed because it was not out in time on your designated day, please wait until the next collection date for pick-up. Holidays can affect collection dates. For example, the week of Labor Day, pick-up will be delayed by one day. If the holiday falls on a weekend, then there will be no delays.

  • If you are moving out or selling your property, submit a request a stop to Waukee utility service for your home or business within Waukee city limits to stop billing and service for water, sewer and garbage and recycling, if applicable to your property. Have your forwarding (new) address ready when submitting your request. 

    Call MidAmerican Energy at 1-888-427-5632 to stop or transfer service for electricity or natural gas service.

  • You have three ways to view past bills:

    • Create an online account to view utility billing history. 
    • Call the Utility Billing Department at 515-978-5502 to request a copy of the bill by mail, fax or email. 
    • Stop by Waukee City Hall to request a print-out in person.

  • You can pay online through the City of Waukee website by signing up for access to your account online. From this access point you will be able to pay by credit card only. View other payment options.

  • If the streetlight is located along Hickman Rd, Alice’s Rd or Grand Prairie Pkwy, contact the Public Works Department at 515-978-7920 to get a service repair ticket started. For all other streetlights outages or issues, contact MidAmerican Energy at the link below or by calling 1-888-427-5632.

  • If you smell gas, and it is a slight odor, leave the building and move away from the property. Do not shut off light switches or appliances. Once you are safely away from the building, call the Gas Emergency line for MidAmerican Energy at 800-595-5325. If the gas odor is strong, leave the premises right away without turning off any lights or appliances or doing anything that could cause a spark. When you are away from the building, call 911 from a mobile phone or neighbor's phone and then call the MidAmerican Energy emergency line.

  • Dog and cat licenses $15 for altered pets and $25 for unaltered pets. Waukee residents are required to license pets annually per City ordinance. A proof of rabies vaccination is required. The City of Waukee partners with PetData.com to offer online pet licensing for residents. For new licenses, please visit PetData.com. Questions can be directed to the customer service line at 855-585-8157 (toll-free). If you do not have internet access and need to license a pet, please call the City Clerk's office at 515-978-7904.

  • Animals that are found on the street or in the public right of way are handled by the Public Works Department. Please call 515-978-7922.

  • Live animals that are found at large, whether a loose dog or a wandering raccoon, are handled by the Police Department. Please call non-emergency dispatch at 515-222-3321 or 515-222-3322 to make a report.
