  • Waukee Parks & Recreation offers many sports programs and other recreational opportunities throughout the year.

  • A $5 non-refundable handling fee will be deducted from the refund when an enrollee withdraws from a program at least one week prior to the first day of the program. Within one week of the program start date or after rosters are formed, refunds will not be issued. Cancelations for trips must be made at least three weeks prior to the trip date to receive a full refund.

  • Programs, activities, special events and festivals that are canceled, postponed or changed in location will be announced as soon as possible. Please check Facebook, Twitter or the City’s website for updates. We reserve the right to cancel a program or an activity that does not meet the minimum number of participants necessary to offer the program.

  • Waukee offers many facilities to rent, including enclosed and open shelters and the Community Center. Baseball/softball fields are also available for reservation for local recreational and competitive teams.

  • Facility rental refunds may be issued for reservations only when cancelations are made at least 10 business days prior to the date of reservation. There will be a $10 cancellation fee for any shelter or pavilion refund. Cancelations made later than 10 business days prior to the reserved date will result in forfeiture of rental payments.

  • Yes, Waukee offers 23 miles of winding trails that connect neighborhoods and residents to different parts of the fast-growing city. Waukee supports active pursuits through a comprehensive trail system.

  • Waukee Parks and Recreation maintains ball fields in three parks, which can be reserved for recreational and competitive teams.

    • Centennial Park has three fields
    • Warrior Park has four fields
    • Triumph Park has 12 fields plus a Miracle League field that is adapted for players with special needs and disabilities

  • Senior trips are provided by the Parks & Recreation Department as well as classes and events for adults of all ages. Details are provided in biannual program guides here or by calling 515-978-0007.

    The Waukee Public Library offers a variety of programs and events for patrons of all ages. Check the calendar at WaukeePublicLibrary.org.

    The Waukee Police Department hosts the Waukee Area Seniors and Police (WASP) group to foster cooperation between law enforcement, senior services and seniors in the community and reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly. Learn more here.

  • The Parks & Recreation Department hosts a variety of community events and celebrations throughout the year including FamilyFest, Fourth of July, WinterFest and more.

  • Weather cancellations for weekday evening sports activities will be determined by 4 p.m. Weekend sports activities will be determined by 8 a.m. For other programs and activities participants and parents will be notified by email. Cancelations will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and/or email to participants.

  • Board members serve a three-year term and they meet every third Thursday. The Parks and Recreation Board plays a vital role advising and assisting the Parks and Recreation Department. The purpose of the Board is to represent the citizens of Waukee by planning, establishing, purchasing, maintaining, along with improving parks, trails, open space, and recreation facilities. In addition to organizing and administering a variety of recreational programs and community events to meet the current and future needs of the Waukee community.
