Enjoy Hollywood’s biggest hits under the stars with Movies in the Park at Centennial Park in Waukee. These Friday night movies are free and a great way to make summer memories with friends and family. Showtime is at dusk, typically around 8:45 p.m. for summer movies and 6:30 p.m. for fall. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to sit in the grassy area near the open shelter. You may also bring your favorite snacks.
Friday, June 5: “How to Train Your Dragon” (PG)
The hit live-action remake of the 2010 animated film, “How to Train Your Dragon”. On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast, Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon.
Friday, July 3: “National Treasure” (PG)
A modern-day fortune hunter races to find an ancient treasure hidden by the Founding Fathers. This is in conjunction with other Independence Day Celebration activities. Find event information here.
Friday, August 7: “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” (PG)
Mario ventures into space, exploring cosmic worlds and tackling galactic challenges far from the familiar Mushroom Kingdom.
